This was the fourth phase
of the Heart to Heart medical exchange project. The 2005 Russian medical
delegation
arrived
in Seattle on May 19 and stayed in the Grants Pass area until May 31.
The delegation
stayed the night in Portland and the next morning took a
tour of Oregon
Health Sciences
University.
Later that day they visited Salem so the
delegation could see a bit about how
Oregon government
works. The delegation
included a certified lab doctor, a
radiologist, a neurologist and a chief
nurse
specializing in ultrasound diagnosis.
The group consists of four women
from Altaiski Krai,
Rubtsovsk:
1. Frolova Elena, Egovrovna: Certified doctor, laboratory assist and
Diagnostic Center.
2. Poperechnaya Anastasia, Vladimirovna: radiologist laboratory assistant,
Diagnostic Center
3. Dmitrieva Lyuda, Hasanovna: Ultrasound diagnosis chief nurse, Diagnostic
center
4. Nefediva Elena, Mihailovna: Certified
doctor, neurologist, Diagnostic Center
At Three Rivers
Community Hospital they had lunch and a tour with physicians from
the various
specialties
represented by the delegation. The Russians stayed with
host families while in Grants Pass.
Those of us who have been guests in Russian homes will agree: this is a most rewarding and
wonderful experience.
The delegation had a rich itinerary. They went to
the Oregon Coast, Rogue Valley Medical Center and Cath Lab,
toured senior housing, had lunch at Vera Quimby's, went on a Hellgate JetBoat
Tour and to a symphony, then to Oregon
Caves, Taylor's Sausage and a winery and to SisQ Clinic, visited schools, had dinner in Ashland
with Cabaret performance,
went shopping, participated in the Memorial Day
Boatnik Festival, went to Crater
Lake and Wildlife Safari and
had a goodbye dessert potluck at the Kellenbeck
home on the Rogue River.
