Text Box: 2010 April, from Sister City President Kitty Waud:
On April 23 four delegates leave for Rubtsovsk: Nancy Hitchcock, Barbara Southerland-Muir, myself and my 10 year old granddaughter Sarah . This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Sister City alliance between Grants Pass & Rubtsovsk. When we are there the Russians plan a get-together to celebrate. Likewise our Grants Pass Sister City group will have a celebration in September. We have invited some of those who were involved in the beginning and some new Russians who wish to become involved .

My Granddaughter Sarah will be taking time off from school, therefore her father, with the help of her teacher, created a packet of information she must gather. This is an official assignment which will help her meet requirements to progress to the next grade. She attends a French elementary school in Eugene. Sarah wants to attend an elementary school while in Russia to compare how teaching is done there. We will be staying with a young family with a daughter age 11. Sarah is also very interested in finding out what girls her age read in Rubtsovsk. She is an avid reader. Sarah will have a blank book she will write in every day about her experiences .

We hope to visit one of the orphanages, with the expectation that our Sister City can be of some help. We will meet
the Mayor and visit some of the higher education facilities. Our schedule will include visits to several hospitals, a
local church and art gallery among other places . We leave Rubtsovsk on May 3rd to spend a day in Novosibirsk with
a friend, then on to Moscow for 3 days.

Text Box: What a fabulous trip we had! This was an experience of a lifetime, I will never forget.

This trip was all about the people and the interaction we had with them. First, traveling with Nancy, Kitty and Sarah was a great pleasure. In Rubtsovsk, the open hearts and hospitality and generous nature of the people were beyond any expectations I had envisioned. Sister City in Rubtsovsk had a wonderful itinerary for us. Luda, Sister City President, guided us each day and took such loving care of us. I enjoyed, very much, staying with my hostess, Lyudmila Petric, and getting to know her. She also took good care of me as well.

We had the opportunity to meet and talk with students, teachers, administrators, City Administrators, Hospital Administrators and staff. We were enlightened with tours of the Social Services Facility, Boys and Girls Club, Rassvet, (workplace of the Handicapped), the Art Gallery, Museum, church and Library. I was so impressed with the dedication and quality of the facilities and the staff and the students. We were entertained at many of these places and in many homes, with music and dancing and abundant and delicious food and good conversation. We enjoyed our days in the country and at the lakes with new friends. Each and every day was full of wonderful surprises.
Nadya was a wonderful tour guide in the beautiful city of Moscow. We had a great visit with Nadya and the city.
I appreciate the opportunity of being a part of the Sister City, Grant's, Pass-Rubtsovsk delegation. The new friends and new experiences were truly the greatest trip ever.
