RUTH PEPPLE:
March 6, 2007 four students and a teacher were the first youths to
visit Grants Pass since  1997.  As usual the citizens of Grants Pass
lived up to the reputation and we found five great host families, and
cooperation when we asked for assistance.

Host families were: Ni and  Greg Gienger,  Breanne, James, and Kalee
who hosted Natasha Vorona; DeNise and Russell Garceau, Garrett who
hosted Natasha Kobzeva;  James and Lana Lowe, Leanna and Chad who
hosted Galya Kutdusova; Phil and Lynn Turnbull, Kala and Rose who
hosted Victoria Kovaloeva; Gwen and DeVerne Jacobsen who hosted the
teacher Natalya Chernucha.

The first week the delegation was here was the last week before
spring vacation.  The local high schools and teachers were very
cooperative and welcomed the students to shadow their host students
to get a taste of school life.  The second week the delegates
experienced the usual spring vacation activities of the host family.
In the case of Natasha Kobzeva, that meant a trip to southern
California with all the excitement of a tourist.  Others experienced
trips to the Oregon Coast, Crater Lake, Wildlife Images, Grants Pass
Fire and Safety tours, and of course shopping.
