EQUIPMENT HAS ARRIVED FROM ACROSS THE OCEAN
City Hospital #1 has received a large and wonderful present from our American Sister City Grants Pass.
Modern medical equipment, valued around 50 thousand dollars, has arrived.

One and a half years ago a delegation from Grants Pass, staying in Rubtsovsk, visited City Hospital #1
and saw a large opportunity to provide this institution with urgent medical assistance.  Thus a plan was
developed to deliver here additional medical equipment.

The equipment was donated by a hospital in Grants Pass that had received for itself new technology.
Money for the delivery from the US to Vladivostok was raised by residents of our Sister City.  Dealings
with customs lasted quite a while, but now the equipment has been delivered, except for an X-ray machine,
which for now is still stuck at the border.

City authorities made the decision not to divide the equipment between all of the hospitals, but rather to
place it only in Hospital #1, in order to maximize its effectiveness.  In particular, the system of control
to monitor patients' state of health has already been installed in the intensive care unit, and is being
utilized in the complex.

Three anesthesia machines - with more than just a few hours of work left in them - have appeared in
operating rooms.  These machines have exhausted only about one quarter of their possible resources;
they could last another ten years.

Two operating tables have arrived for urological and orthopedic operations, as well as equipment
and materials for the inter-region trauma department.

Beds and "rollers", in this background, may seem not only impressive, but compared with what is
used in our hospitals - the difference is heaven and earth.

Medical personnel mastered the new technology quickly.  In the words of Head Doctor Vladimir Sadanov,
the equipment and qualified training are available in the hands of the doctors, and so they will work
with the new machines without problems.
